Brand strategy for businesses done being overlooked
I'm Kate Dole. From my studio in the Moncton area, I help New Brunswick and Maritime businesses figure out what makes them worth choosing — then say it clearly, everywhere it counts. Positioning, messaging, identity, and the website that carries them.
The safest brand in the room
New Brunswick runs on businesses that are better than their marketing. We're modest here — it's part of the charm — but online, modesty reads as sameness, and sameness is expensive. When your website sounds like your competitor's, the buyer chooses on price.
Brand strategy is how you stop being interchangeable. We dig out what you actually are — the conviction, the history, the way you work that clients rave about in private — and build your positioning around the thing only you can say. Then we put it everywhere: your site, your pitch, your LinkedIn, your proposals.
I've done this work for New Brunswick companies like CareerBeacon and for product companies serving millions of users. The pattern holds at every size: the businesses that win name something true and say it with their whole chest.
What the work looks like
Discovery first, always. Everything else is built from what we find there.
-
The excavation
A long conversation that gets you saying the things you've never quite put into words. This is where your real positioning has been hiding — under the safe version you've been shipping.
-
Positioning and messaging
A clear answer to why you, in language that sounds like you said it — because you did, and I caught it.
-
Identity and website
When they're in scope, the brand identity and the site get built by the same person who sat in discovery with you — so nothing true gets lost on the way to the screen. See how that plays out in web design projects.

The strategy, working
Go-to-market thinking, conversion, and the growth lens — I come at brand as a product person who speaks marketing, and the strategy has to survive contact with real buyers.

Questions worth asking first
What does brand strategy cost in New Brunswick?
I price flat-rate: we talk, I scope what you need, and you get one number before anything starts. Projects range from focused positioning work to a full brand-and-website build, and the quote reflects the scope we choose together — no hourly clock, no scope-creep invoices.
Do I need brand strategy, or just a new website?
Usually the website is where the symptom shows up and the brand is where the cause lives. If your site sounds like your competitors', a prettier version of the same words changes very little. Discovery sorts this out fast — and if all you genuinely need is a website, I'll tell you that.
How do you work with clients across the Maritimes?
Around Greater Moncton we can work across a table. Everywhere else — Fredericton, Saint John, Halifax, Charlottetown — the process runs over video, and it runs well: discovery is a conversation, and a good conversation travels. I've done this work for clients across Canada and the US.
What do I actually walk away with?
Positioning you can say out loud, messaging that sounds like you on your best day, and the language bank to keep it consistent — plus the brand identity and website when they're in scope. Everything is documented and everything is yours.
How is this different from hiring an agency?
One person carries your project from discovery to launch, so the insight from our first conversation survives all the way into the final design. Agencies split strategy and execution across different people, and the story loses blood at every handoff.
Say the true thing first.
Tell me what you've built and where the market keeps missing it. One conversation, and you'll know whether the problem is your brand, your website, or just the words.
